Saturday’s college football DFS slate features several games with projected team totals in the 20s, which is surprising given the amount of poor defense we’ve seen this season. But, burners still exist as teams like Florida, Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State are all projected to score in the 40s.
Winning DFS scores should be high again this week, especially with players like those below eligible for rostering.
Quarterbacks
Kyle Trask, Florida ($9,700 on DraftKings, $11,500 on FanDuel) – Trask is expensive, but it’s hard to argue he’s not worth paying up for this week. In just six games, he’s passed for 2,171 yards and 28 – yes, 28 – touchdowns. Florida plays SEC doormat Vanderbilt this week, and Vegas pegs the Gators as likely to be the highest-scoring team on the slate.
Feleipe Franks, Arkansas ($6,200 on DK, $8,700 on FD) – Arkansas, who was expected to win just a game or two this year, has been sneakily mediocre and is just a 2.5-point underdog against surprisingly bad LSU at the time of this writing. Oddsmakers expect a close matchup, with both teams scoring close to 30 points. It’s a good spot for Franks against a bad LSU secondary, especially at this low salary.
Running Backs
Najee Harris, Bama ($9,300 on DK, $10,800 on FD) – The Tide will run roughshod through a Kentucky team that’s a 30-point underdog and, as usual, Harris should be a large part of the destruction. He’s averaging more than 20 carries and three receptions per game, with 14 touchdowns on the season.
Mike Epstein, Illinois ($4,400 on DK, Game not on FD) – Roster Epstein for nice salary savings. The Fighting Illini only give the running back about 10 carries per game, but he’s used a lot near the end zone. Oddsmakers expect Illinois to score a few touchdowns against Nebraska on Saturday, and Epstein is likely to rush for at least one of them and pay off his salary.
Wide Receivers
Trevon Grimes, Florida ($5,100 on DK, $7,500 on FD) – Grimes benefited the most last week from the absence of tight end Kyle Pitts, catching six passes for 109 yards and two TDs against Arkansas. Meanwhile, No. 1 receiver Kadarius Toney ($7,400 and $9,000) had seven receptions for 57 yards and no scores. Double stacking these receivers in your lineups isn’t a bad idea, but if you’re using just one, I’d take Grimes and the salary savings.
Peyton Hendershot, Indiana ($3,800 on DK, $5,900 on FD) – Ohio State should cruise against Indiana, although the surprising Hoosiers may put up a good fight. Regardless, Indiana likely will trail against the Buckeyes and be forced to pass more often. Hendershot, a tight end, sees nice volume near the goal line, having caught three touchdown passes in four games.
