Week 9 of DFS college football provides another healthy slate that should require plenty of points to win or cash. Oklahoma and Jalen Hurts are likely to pile up scores on Kansas State, while the Seminoles of Florida State are on the rise, and Cam Akers is likely to post solid DFS scores against Syracuse. Here’s a look at some players to consider at each position this Saturday.
Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma ($9,200 on DraftKings, $11,800 on FanDuel) – Yep. Him again. DK priced Hurts up a whopping $200 after his monster 47.1-point game against West Virginia last week. The Kansas State defense that Hurts faces this week is pretty good against the pass, but weak against the run. With his two dimensions, Hurts should continue to have no trouble piling up DFS points in Week 9.
Kellen Mond, Texas A&M ($7,300 on DK, $9,700 on FD) – Mond didn’t play particularly well against Ole Miss last week, and still got 16.5 points on DK. He’s averaging 24.2 points on the season and now faces a reeling Mississippi State team with three straight losses that isn’t good against the run or the pass. Mond is proficient at both.
Running backs
Breece Hall, Iowa State ($6,500 on DK, $9,000 on FD) – Despite two high-scoring outings in the past two weeks, after the freshman took over for Johnnie Lang, Hall is still underpriced as the Cyclones prepare to face Oklahoma State this week. The Cowboys rank just 230th against opposing running backs in DFS college football, so look for Hall to have a third consecutive big game.
Cam Akers, Florida State ($7,500 on DK, $9,800 on FD) – Akers is averaging 22 rushes per game, including 30 last week against Wake Forest. That’s on top of nearly three receptions per game. The Seminoles will face Syracuse this week, a team that ranks 180th against opposing running backs.
Wide receivers
Charlie Kolar, Iowa State ($4,800 on DK, $7,400 on FD) – The big day for the Cyclones tight end last week (three catches, 79 yards, two TDs against Texas Tech) could be a sign of more big things to come. Kolar is averaging nearly four receptions per game, with four TDs on the season. He’s value priced for his potential to put up big DFS points.
Tyler Johnson, Minnesota ($6,300 on DK, $9,100 on FD) – Johnson has established himself as the primary deep threat for the Golden Gophers, with three 100-plus yard receiving games, and six touchdowns in his last five games. He faces a Maryland D this week that ranks among the lower half in college football against opposing wide receivers.
