Week 7 of college football promises to be another exciting Saturday, with plenty of likely high-scoring matchups on the slate. While players may find it hard to put up the ridiculous fantasy numbers we saw last week, you can expect it to take some pretty solid scores to finish high on the leaderboards again this week.
Here are six players to consider for your rosters this Saturday:
Quarterbacks
Sam Howell, North Carolina ($9,200 on DraftKings, $10,800 on FanDuel) – As a dual-threat quarterback, Howell is worth paying up for. Consider that he’s eclipsed 100 yards rushing in three of the Tar Heels’ six games this season while averaging nearly 34 fantasy points per game on DraftKings. The Miami Hurricanes will have trouble slowing #7 down this week.
Zach Calzada, Texas A&M ($6,300 on DK, $7,700 on FD) – Few prognosticators gave the Aggies a chance against Alabama last week, but Texas A&M upset the top-ranked team in large part due to Calzada’s precision passing. Filling in for the injured Haynes King, Calzada got the season off to a rough start. But he has shaken off the jitters and looks to continue his hot hand against a porous Missouri D this week.
Running backs
Jaylen Warren, Oklahoma State ($7,100 on DK, $10,000 on FD) – While the play of the Longhorns has improved in recent weeks, Texas is winning mostly based on its offense, not its defense. And Warren is a volume monster, averaging more than 33 touches per game over the past three weeks. The Cowboys will likely try to ride Warren to victory in what should be a competitive game.
Mar’Keise Irving, Minnesota ($3,600 on DK, Game not on FD) – With Trey Potts now out for the season with an injury, the true freshman Irving will likely take over starting running back duties for the Golden Gophers. While it’s unclear if he will get the bulk of the carries or be part of a timeshare, Irving is worth taking a shot on at this low salary. Plus, the Nebraska defense ranks just 131st in college football against opposing running backs in DFS.
Wide receivers
Josh Downs, North Carolina ($8,700 on DK, $10,500 on FD) – Pair Howell with Downs, his top receiver who’s averaging nearly 30 fantasy points per game on DK. Downs has caught eight passes in each game this season – other than last week, in which he caught nine. He’s averaging more than 100 receiving yards and one touchdown per game. He should light up Miami on Saturday.
Ladd McConkey, Georgia ($3,600 on DK, $7,000 on FD) – When you think of receivers, you don’t immediately think of Georgia, a team known for its rushing prowess. But at this salary, you can’t bypass McConkey, a freshman who’s become the No. 1 receiver for the Bulldogs. He’s averaged more than 18 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks.
