- Power Blackjack is an interesting take on Blackjack. It's similar to Zappit, but with splits and doubles, which makes it more exciting for players. Lesson 8, Power Blackjack.
With Power Blackjack, you are dealt two cards face up, and the dealer has one card up and one card down. When it's your turn, you can hit stay and double like normal. But if you have a total of 15 or 16, you can choose to power split them. You can split any two cards, even if they're not pairs, if your total is 15 or 16.
For example, if you have a Jack and a six, you now receive two new cards to make new hands with by doubling your wager and asking to split. Now, for the power double, you can double any 9, 10, or 11. But if you don't like the cards you get, you can simply ask for another one.
In order for players to have this advantage, the nines and tens are removed from the deck, and the dealer 22 pushes against all hands except for blackjack because it's already been paid out at 3 to 2. Keep in mind the casino wants you to double your wager. Every time you do this, there are no guarantees that you won't get another 15 or 16.
So you always need to keep the dealers up card in mind when doubling your wager when you have a 5 or 6 in your hand. This can be profitable when the dealer has a good bus card and the math works out. But the casinos don't create these games to lose money. So they keep their edge, one way or another.
